What is the Employment Place?
The Employment Place is your one-stop highly utilized resource centre supported by qualified staff. We help individuals seeking employment and with career decision making. At the Employment Place you will find information, assistance, and support to get the job you want.
The Employment Place has two paths of services; Self Directed Services and Assisted Services.
Services
Assisted Services
We have a total of five Career Counselors including an aboriginal and youth counselors who help you navigate to the right career choices and possible programs to help you achieve your goals. These programs include those for training, skills upgrading, job finding and pre-employment workshops and self employment assistance.
Needs Assessment - Clients are provided with an assessment to assist them to identify the services they need in order to re-attach to the work force. This collaborative process involves gathering information on the client’s employment situation, identifying employment needs and challenges, and setting up an action plan.
Employment Counseling - The Career Counselor, based on your personal needs, will offer employment counseling that incorporates;

· Skill Enhancement
· Job Search
· Employment Maintenance
Your Counselor will take the time to understand your situation and will inform you of community resources that can assist you to achieve your goals. We can help you to connect with programs available to you for skills upgrading and training, self employment assistance, targeted wage subsidies, programs for people with disabilities and other specialized community agencies.
Group Sessions and Workshops - Pre - employment group and workshop sessions, will assist clients who would like to enhance their job search skills and or self-confidence to market themselves to employers. Participants will gain the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary for productive job seeking efforts. TEP offers a Job Finding Club that is 5 days of instructor lead workshops and is designed to provide support in your job marketing techniques.
Another free service is our half day workshops which assist people with computer basics, to job search strategies and building interview confidence.Services to Aboriginal/Métis Clients - Aboriginal/Métis employment services provide a wide range of services to all people of Aboriginal ancestry, Métis or Inuit, living on or off reserve, who require assistance to find and retain employment. Maintaining and enhancing a strong working relationship with our four local Aboriginal Bands is priority for TEP.
Self Directed Work Search ServicesTEP provides self directed work search services with access to the tools and services which clients need to engage in an effective, self directed search for work. We provide resources for phoning and faxing potential employers as well as job postings on the board and internet. Free internet service and software programs are available to create your resume, apply for jobs, search the internet for jobs, research companies for job opportunities and create email accounts.
Job Postings - Current local job posting are updated daily on our in-house job board. Posted information is obtained from newspapers, websites, Service Canada’s regional website and information from employers.
Computer Access - Clients have access to computers for Internet job search and other relevant information. Handouts will be provided with tips and various links to web sites that will enhance client techniques and strategies including the development of resume and cover letters. Other services available are tutorials on resume writing, typing, and other computer skills.
Telephone/Photocopying/Faxing - Free local and long distance calls to potential employers are provided. Photocopying of resumes and cover letters are provided at no cost to the client. Free local and long distance faxing of resumes and cover letters is available.
Message Service - Clients without telephone access may set up a message mailbox. They may then include a contact number on resume and cover letters, enabling potential employers to contact them directly.
Employment Related Resources - Career and employment resources are provided in the following formats – books, brochures, private and government work search publications, links to web sites, career information and software, magazines, newspapers and a wide selection of tip sheets.
